Diabetes Medicine
Our bodies run on food (sugar) by converting it into energy.
A hormone called insulin is responsible for transporting sugar to the cells that make up muscles and internal organs.
When insulin secretion decreases or becomes less effective, blood sugar levels rise. If this continues, it will lead to diabetes.
In the early stages, there are no symptoms, but if the hyperglycemic state continues, symptoms such as dry mouth, excessive drinking and urination appear, and weight loss, general fatigue, and numbness in the hands and feet may occur. It may also be diagnosed based on symptoms such as periodontal disease and vision loss.
If you have these symptoms

Losing weight

Inspection details
Tests include weight, blood pressure, HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c), blood sugar, urine, and complication evaluation.
It is particularly important to evaluate complications, and we will work with ophthalmology and dentistry to prevent their progression.
When pancreatic β cells are destroyed due to autoimmune or unknown reasons, insulin secretion decreases and hyperglycemia occurs.
Type 1 diabetes
It is caused by genetic factors and lifestyle habits such as lack of exercise, overeating, and stress. A chronic state of hyperglycemia occurs due to decreased insulin secretion and reduced insulin effectiveness.
Diabetes can develop due to a number of different factors.
Treatment details
Dietary therapy
After evaluating for complications, we will provide guidance tailored to your age and lifestyle. There are anaerobic exercises such as muscle training, aerobic exercises such as walking and jogging, and stretching exercises.
It is recommended to increase the amount of exercise you do in your daily life, and we provide specific instructions such as getting up and stretching every 30 minutes between desk work.
Exercise therapy
Dietary therapy and exercise therapy are performed, and drug therapy is also performed if necessary. Drug therapy is broadly divided into oral medication and injectable medication. The drug therapy selected will be chosen according to each individual's lifestyle.
By evaluating how much insulin is being secreted, we can determine whether to treat with oral medication or whether insulin treatment is necessary. In addition, if a patient's hyperglycemic state persists, it may be difficult for blood sugar levels to decrease, so there is also a method of administering insulin temporarily.
The main types of diabetes are type 1 and type 2. Other types include gestational diabetes, drug-induced diabetes, and diabetes associated with liver disease and pancreatic disease. If diabetes continues to cause hyperglycemia, it can damage blood vessels throughout the body, leading to various complications.
It can cause nerve, eye, and kidney damage, as well as myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction, and occlusive arteriosclerosis.
A persistent hyperglycemic state causes impaired blood flow in the glomeruli of the kidneys, leading to diabetic nephropathy.
There are no noticeable symptoms in the early stages, but as kidney function declines, systemic symptoms such as swelling, fatigue, anemia, and high blood pressure appear.
By assessing kidney function from the early stages of diabetes and taking appropriate measures at each stage, it is possible to slow the progression.
Nephropathy
Persistent hyperglycemic conditions damage the peripheral nerves of the hands and feet. The main symptoms are symmetrical pain, numbness, a burning sensation, and a cold sensation, as well as a decrease in vibration sense, temperature and pain sense, touch sense, and position sense.
The assessment will involve testing the sense of vibration and touch.

complications
Complications caused by diabetes include microvascular complications (complications of small blood vessels) and macrovascular complications.
There are three major microvascular complications: retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy.
Macrovascular complications include cerebral infarction and myocardial infarction.
